Weekly Beef Export Sales 04/18 07:35
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 333,900 pieces for 2024 were down 19
percent from the previous week and 1 percent from the prior 4-week
average. Increases primarily for China (250,800 whole cattle hides,
including decreases of 5,200 pieces), Mexico (34,400 whole cattle hides,
including decreases of 600 pieces), South Korea (24,000 whole cattle
hides, including decreases of 400 pieces), Italy (8,600 whole cattle
hides), and Thailand (8,600 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 200
pieces), were offset by reductions for Japan (100 pieces) and Turkey (100
pieces). Exports of 324,000 pieces were down 15 percent from the previous
week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hides
exports were primarily to China (227,000 pieces), Mexico (39,000 pieces),
South Korea (26,000 pieces), Vietnam (9,400 pieces), and Brazil (9,000
pieces).
Net sales of 244,300 wet blues for 2024 were up noticeably from the
previous week and up 88 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases
primarily for China (133,900 unsplit), Vietnam (86,600 unsplit, including
decreases of 100 unsplit), Thailand (8,400 unsplit and 6,800 grain
splits), Brazil (13,300 unsplit, including decreases of 200 grain splits),
and Taiwan (7,600 unsplit), were offset by reductions for Italy (9,100
unsplit and 8,600 grain splits) and Hong Kong (200 unsplit). Total net
sales of 16,000 unsplit for 2025 were for Italy. Exports of 137,000 wet
blues were down 2 percent from the previous week, but down 3 percent from
the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Vietnam
(38,500 unsplit), China (38,000 unsplit), Italy (27,900 unsplit), Thailand
(20,300 unsplit), and Hong Kong (5,800 unsplit). Net sales of 88,300
splits primarily for China (88,200 pounds), were offset by reductions for
Vietnam (1,700 pounds). Exports of 204,800 splits were primarily to
Vietnam (163,500 pounds).
Beef: Net sales of 17,700 MT for 2024 were up 30 percent from the
previous week and 27 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were
primarily for South Korea (5,400 MT, including decreases of 400 MT), China
(3,600 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), Japan (2,800 MT, including
decreases of 300 MT), Taiwan (2,100 MT, including decreases of 100 MT),
and Mexico (1,800 MT, including decreases of 100 MT). Exports of 16,700
MT--a marketing-year high--were up 21 percent from the previous week and
20 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily
to Japan (4,700 MT), South Korea (4,600 MT), China (2,800 MT), Mexico
(1,400 MT), and Taiwan (900 MT).
Pork: Net sales of 21,800 MT for 2024--a marketing-year low--were down 54
percent from the previous week and 47 percent from the prior 4-week
average. Increases were primarily for Mexico (8,500 MT, including
decreases of 300 MT), China (3,000 MT, including decreases of 100 MT),
Japan (2,900 MT, including decreases of 200 MT), Colombia (1,400 MT,
including decreases of 100 MT), and South Korea (1,200 MT, including
decreases of 400 MT). Exports of 41,700 MT were up 18 percent from the
previous week and 22 percent from the prior 4-week average. The
destinations were primarily to Mexico (16,200 MT), Japan (6,500 MT), South
Korea (5,600 MT), China (3,600 MT), and Canada (1,900 MT).
